Happy New Year!  Welcome to 2016 and a new #WeddingWednesday.  We hope everyone had a lovely holiday and is ready for the new year.  We are so excited for 2016 and all it will bring.  On this week’s show we kicked off the new year in our new office with a delicious beach-inspired cocktail and a really cute DIY project.

Signature CocktailPaloma

This classic drink is a refreshing and pretty drink to serve at a spring or summer wedding, it lends itself perfectly to a destination or beach wedding also.  Because of it’s simple ingredients it makes a great choice for a signature cocktail. And it’s easy to make for a crowd in larger quantities. It can easily be made non-alcoholic by omitting the tequila and using soda or sparkling water.

Ingredients:

  1. Tequila (1 part)
  2. Grapefruit juice (2 parts)
  3. Soda (1 part)
  4. Lime (squeeze, extra for garnish)
  5. Triple sec (splash)

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice
  2. Shake
  3. Pour into glass
  4. Garnish with lime
  5. CHEERS!

DIY: Personalized Hangers

This DIY is such a cute gift for bridesmaids or the bride and an incredible photo opportunity!  It is so simple and very inexpensive.  As with all of our DIYs there is so much room to make this project your own and get really creative, it would be a fun activity to do with your maids leading up to the wedding. Perhaps decorate your hangers while sipping palomas!

Supplies:

  1. Wooden hangers
  2. Sharpies
  3. Ribbon

Instructions:

  1. Use the sharpie to write the name of the bridesmaid/bride/mother of the bride on the hanger, include the date of the wedding.
  2. Tie a ribbon at the base of the hanger
  3. Enjoy!

Wedding Budget Idea: The “Stay-cation” Destination Wedding!

Why do couples choose a destination wedding? Often times it’s a way to “elope” — with a few friends — for those who don’t want a big to-do. But some couples pick a destination wedding because the location is meaningful to them. In that case, in can be really costly to host all your wedding guests abroad. So my budget-saving idea this week is a “destination wedding”you host locally! You can have that Mexico or Hawaii wedding by doing a destination-themed wedding. This saves you money in at least three ways: 1) You don’t have to fly yourselves or anyone else to a destination, 2) You don’t have to pay for hotel nights for yourself and your wedding guests, and 3) You can save an arm and a leg on catering because destination themed foods tend to be less expensive. (There are some amazing Mexican catering companies out there —  shout out to “El Indio” in San Diego!)
