Alaskan Cruise

An Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon. Delayed, of course, until the plague finally diminishes enough to allow such adventures to be reasonable and not terrifying. After all, there's already enough terror inherent in a cold water cruise simply because of the large sample of incidents in which cold water cruise ships fail to complete their voyages beyond the 1 hour and 41 minute mark (using only the incidents to which I personally was an eye witness, the rate of iceberg-related disasters on northern cruise voyages is a staggering 12 confirmed cases out of 14 data points - 2 of which were truncated by my failure to watch all the way to the 1 hour and 41 minute mark, but I like to think those 2 turned out better than the ones where I saw the entirety of the events). So I'm optimistic about our likelihood of survival on an Alaskan cruise trip despite what my previous research into similar voyages appears to predict. Primarily because Billy Zane is extremely unlikely to be on board to cause trouble for us, but also because I'm fortunate enough to be marrying a woman who wouldn't even hesitate to ask whether I would prefer to share her floating-door raft rather than making me die so she could spread out more comfortably.

But, I digress.. We want to do an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon. Obviously we want to do so only once the plague has reached the point of containment at which cruises are no longer a disastrous plan with nigh certainty of disease. But we can't afford such a wonderful honeymoon, of course. And we realize a registry requesting nothing other than contributions of money is not the kind of thing with which people are necessarily comfortably familiar still. However, these times are different than what any of us are used to. It's a wedding without guests because of the health risks a normal ceremony would include. It's a wedding between a couple who are no longer just starting out in life but rather are far enough along the road to already have long ago gathered all the appliances, dishes, tools, and other traditional wedding gifts. So I hope you all understand the reason for our registry having only a single request and the reason for that request being a gift of whatever amount of money each of you are willing to contribute toward this honeymoon plan which we cannot realistically expect to be able to afford on our own and which is vastly more welcome a gift than any of the household items usually gifted to marrying couples but which we don't need since we've already both collected all those types of items.
