Greetings!
In place of a registry, we would like to preserve the Chinese tradition of red envelopes aka hongbao/laisee. The tradition of red envelopes date back to China's Song Dynasty (960-1279). Red is an auspicious, lucky color in Chinese culture. Red envelopes with cash or checks are traditionally given to the couple during the reception as gifts (registries do not exist in Chinese culture). The giving of red envelopes is a way to symbolically bestow happiness, luck and good wishes to the couple. Thank you in helping us uphold this tradition and being part of our big day!
