How did a girl from Philadelphia meet a guy from Atlanta?

Well, they actually met in Khon Kaen, Thailand in September 2015.

They worked together in a community project that built houses for the surrounding village. Heather was a yoga instructor there, and Steven was a volunteer.

The funny thing was—back then, they both looked a little bit different: Heather had shaved her head, and Steven had ironically shaved his head, too. He had gotten sick in India, lost around ten pounds, and was a bit spacey from a fever.

Despite that, they became good friends: they cooked together, did yoga together, worked together, walked and talked and laughed.

Then, a week after they met, Steven left the project. But so deep was their connection, so insightful their conversations, the two stayed in touch, through letters and social media.

A year later, they both returned to the States. She was living in Nashville; he, in Atlanta.

They were both a bit rugged: neither one had a car or a job, and they were trying to recreate the simple lives they had while traveling. Heather reached out to Steven and asked if he wanted to hangout. She offered to take a bus from Nashville to Atlanta to see him for the weekend.

Steven remembers going to pick up Heather from the Mega Bus Stop in Atlanta. He was expecting to see the girl with no hair that he remembered. So when Heather got off the bus, with shoulder length hair and a nice blue dress, Steven's mouth dropped. Mamma mia this is a beautiful woman! he thought.

She, for her part, saw a guy with long curly hair, who was a bit more chubby than she remembered.

That weekend, they fell in love.

And on May 26, 2019, they got married.
