My name is Sawyer—I met my fiancée Katy in 2020, during the height of COVID. Our story is honestly something both cosmic and silly; neither of us expected to find our person on the internet, and especially not during a world-wide pandemic. And yet…we did. We talked every single day for three months, sent jokes and memes, went on and on about our shared love of My Chemical Romance, talked about our families and fears and dreams, and ultimately fell in love. (Katy will tell you I was incredibly dense about how she felt from the beginning, which is mostly true. But alls well that ends well, even if it makes for a hilarious version of events). And after that, everything just made sense. Seven months later, I moved to Lexington and a week after that, I asked her to marry me.

During our entire relationship, we’ve been enduring the mass amounts of Unprecedented Times, which means we haven’t been able to travel, go wedding dress and suit shopping, hang out with friends, or live a normal life. We have been so so so blessed and privileged to be okay throughout the entire two years, but it’s taken a toll on our mental health. We’re going to be getting married this September, and a month later we’re going on a week long honeymoon (our first non-weekend vacation EVER!). With this honeyfund, since we won’t be having a traditional wedding with a gift registry, we would hope our friends and family could extend a financial gift so we can enjoy our time in South Carolina together. We have “registry” items listed, as well as a “gift any amount” area—this money will mostly go towards our airbnb. Any of our “flexibility” fund will be used for our marriage license fees and photographer who will be documenting our elopement day. To cover all our expenses, we’ll need about $3000 for everything (excluding dinners, drinks, souvenirs, etc.), and not a single penny will go to waste of what we can raise.
