Machu Picchu Pueblo, Peru

Some people see vacations and special occasions as way to sit back, relax and take a break from everyday life, but Alan and I see vacations as opportunities to check off more of our bucket list items. That is why we've chosen to hike along the iconic Inca trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. It has been a long time goal of ours to visit these ancient Incan ruins along with the Amazon rainforest, and what better way to celebrate our union than to finally put, long put off plans to action! While in Peru we will be able to work on our Español, ok it will be mostly me but Alan tries, and trek along the great Andes mountains enjoying some of the oldest walking tails known to humankind. While we make a sport out of backpacking while we travel to not only cut cost, reduce our carbon footprint, and have a more culturally authentic experience the Inca trail has some mandatory restrictions which have delayed our once in a lifetime trip year after year. Such as a 500 traveler per year cap, and mandatory booking through a Peruvian certified tour guide company, with a minimum 6 months in advance, on top of recommended fitness training and altitude acclimation ahead of time. To us this sounds fun! BUT a little inconvenient with covid, continuing education, work and busy home lives. Still we hope to make the most of our honeymoon and cross off as many once in a life time, "you did what??" moments as we can.
