Hawaii

We are going to Maui!

Greetings!

THANK YOU for coming to our website/registry! Here, you will find how we met (Doug's favorite story of all time), what to expect, menu, hotel information, and things-to-do around town!

Our wedding is a laid back, non-traditional, and casual outdoor wedding in November. We strongly recommend bringing a jacket/ blanket/ shawl/ cover up or anything to help warm you up if it gets cold. We also recommend to not wear high heels. Men… that means you guys.

With that in mind, you will have close-full access to your cars to retrieve these items (and maybe a little Mr. Daniels?) at any point of the evening.

How they met.

If you know Heather at all you probably know she likes a nice cocktail after a VERY long day of work. On this particular day, the weather was hot and humid and Heather was already late picking up her friends. She decided to throw on a super comfortable black dress, throw her hair up, and stick one of those fake flower clips in her hair. This was as good as it was going to get…

Debating on which locale to venture, Heather and her friends, eventually decided on Karthooms in downtown Campbell (one of the best bars in Campbell, BTW). Heather LOVES this bar because she was planning to sit her happy butt down on one of the amazingly comfortable loveseats available at Karthooms while the girls ordered drinks and partied.

In the meantime, Doug and a couple of his work colleagues decided to go out coincidentally, this same Thursday night. The boys decided to start their evening at Aquis restaurant, a typical move for Campbell-townsfolk. For those of you who don’t know; Aquis has VERY strong blended drinks called a Swirl. These frozen margarita-like drinks are so potent, the restaurant will only allow you to order two of these Swirls A DAY. However, there are some people who don’t listen. As aforementioned, it was a particularly hot and balmy day and three of these Swirls sounded like a good idea to help cool off. Afterward, they wanted to keep their hydration levels up (they are personal trainers, after all) the gentlemen continued on to Karthooms… and that is all they can remember…

The girls walked into the bar and Heather noticed a group of gentlemen sitting in her spot! Being the lazy and intrusive person she is, Heather decided to sit on one of the armrests of the loveseat a cute gentleman was occupying. The poor guy sat there for just a few seconds, but then abruptly stood up and sat on the sofa directly across from the loveseat. Heather thought she probably smelled bad from her long day of work and it was in his best interest to steer clear of her. It was at that point she decided to completely take over the seat.

By this time, Heather’s friends returned with their round of Jameson shots and some beers. Heather decided by this point, (yes, only 10 minutes at the bar) she was ready for bed. As her friends toasted, boredom set in for Heather. She decided to make a hand gesture to the boys sitting directly across from her, using her hand as a fake gun thus shooting herself in her head. (This was her way of trying to get one of them to talk to her so she didn’t end up falling asleep on the loveseat.) Abruptly, again, the same gentleman decided to get up with SERIOUS vigor, lunged over the coffee table, and sat nearly on top of her!!....

Let’s take a step back and fill in the atmosphere and paint the scene a little more…

The girls were taking shots and making funny coughing noises at the prompting of DJ Kool during Let Me Clear My Throat (Jameson does that to you sometimes), Heather was about to fall asleep, the ‘dudes’ across the table are watching their friend pole-vault over the table like a movie, and there was a loud crappy rap song blasting from the speakers. Okay- back to the story.

As this random guy is playing leap frog over this coffee table Heather noticed his friend’s faces… Every single one of them looked as if they just saw the future of the 2016 presidential election results… shocked, ready to run, slightly terrified, and ready to take pictures. When he lands, this very entertaining man sat on Heather and yelled into her ear; “You can’t shoot yourself in the head with a flower in your hair!”

His pickup line was...quite unique and left Heather speechless. She was now intrigued and wanted to learn more. The conversation continued and the new acquaintances began to talk about fishing, guns, and Nebraska Cornhuskers football. He was telling her all about his hunting stories, schooling, and job interests while Heather proudly showed him the picture of the first fish she ever caught (it was massive at roughly 4 ounces!) That was what really caught his eye, a California girl who can fish! Or so he thought she could… That’s what Swirls can do to you...

Eventually, numbers were exchanged and they went out for ice cream the next night.

And all because two people walked into a bar… and no Lew…no one ducked.

How it’s all going to go down.
There will be a short ceremony before the festivities begin. Doug suggests on grabbing a drink before this happens… It will make this much more fun. We are hoping to be able to fit enough seating for everyone, but if we aren’t so lucky, there will be some folks standing.

Following the ceremony, we (along with immediate family members) will be taken away to take some photos! Feel free to get another cocktail, get some snacks, play some corn hole or horseshoe, visit the photo booth, or just hang out! We will be back to the party shortly after photos.

After all that happens we will have dinner (when we say dinner we really mean brisket), speeches, dancing, and desserts!

THE Menu.
We are having a whole hog roast (pulled pork), smoked brisket (to. die. for.), baked beans, roasted veggies, more brisket, corn bread, and salad. Did we mention brisket?
