We're so excited you will be joining us for our vintage circus themed celebration! Here is some more information about what you can expect at the wedding, and around Portland while you're in town:
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
- Please arrive at the dance pavilion by 3:30PM. Parking my be difficult, as the park will be open to the public and there may be traffic for folks heading out of town for the eclipse the next day. PLEASE ALLOW YOURSELF MORE TIME THAN YOU THINK YOU WILL NEED. The ceremony begins at 4PM sharp and we'd hate for anyone to miss it due to unforeseen traffic or parking issues. If you end up arriving earlier than 3:30, we will happily welcome you!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
- Wear your favorite elegant circus attire, OR formal dress wear. What does that mean? Have fun with it! We would like this to remain a formal event, but you can be as elaborate or as subtle with the circus attire as you like! Full on costumes are encouraged! Or just wear a few accent pieces, like a ruffle collar, a circusy hat, or some circus appropriate jewelry!

WILL THERE BE CIRCUS ENTERTAINMENT?
- Yes! Our very favorite local circus entertainer, Sir Cupcake, will be bringing a roving band of circus performers! (http://www.sircupcake.com)
We'll also have a balloon artist and a fortune teller!
ARE CHILDREN WELCOME AT THE WEDDING?
- Of course! There will be lots of entertainment that kids will enjoy at the reception!
- Be sure to arrive early and enjoy all of the rides that Oaks Amusement Park has to offer!
I'M TRAVELING FROM OUT OF TOWN. WHERE SHOULD I STAY?!
- There are several lovely neighborhoods around Portland, depending on where you would like to be located while you're in town.
- Our Number One recommendation would be to use AirBNB.com Portland is a VERY friendly town, and AirBNB will likely have more options close to our home, and the wedding venue. (neither of which have many nearby hotels).
If you would like to be closer to our neighborhood, search in zip code 97203.
If you'd like to be closer to the wedding venue, search in zip code 97202.
- The Inn At Northrup Station (http://www.northrupstation.com/) is a great hotel close to downtown Portland, and directly on the Streetcar line, which can take you to many unique neighborhoods. Call 1.800.224.1180 and use Group Code "Sparrow/Scheur Wedding Group" to receive 15% off the normal room rate. (This offer is good until 7/18/17)
- For an even more unique atmosphere, a little further from town, try McMenamins Edgefield (mcmenamins.com/edgefield), complete with a soaking pool, a winery, glass-blowing shop, and plenty of space for beautiful walks!

DID I HEAR SOMETHING ABOUT AN ECLIPSE?
- You're going to be in Portland at a very special time. The day AFTER our wedding, August 21st 2017, there will be a TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN! Not only that, but Portland is one of the few places along the path of the eclipse that will be a perfect viewing spot. Look up to the skies at 10:19am to see this rare and unique phenomenon.
