Greetings, family and friends!

We’d be so honored to have you contribute to our honeymoon to benefit the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand! We’ll be volunteering at this renowned rescue sanctuary for abused and special needs Asian elephants. Once revered in Thailand and throughout Asia, these critically endangered elephants are now subjected to extreme abuses in logging camps and from the tourism industry, where they sustain not only debilitating injuries, but also broken spirits. The Elephant Nature Park (ENP) rescues and rehabilitates them, providing them with the mercy and freedom to live the rest of their lives at the sanctuary. The ENP is run by volunteers from all over the world, and we will be spending a week helping to administer medication for the animals at the sanctuary, bathing elephants in the river, harvesting bananas and vegetables, and maintaining and cleaning the grounds of the sanctuary!

The ENP also manages to operate a large rescue and rehabilitation clinic for Thailand's numerous street dogs who are saved from not only both homelessness and high-kill shelters (and provides medical treatment from injuries and abuse), but also from the underground dog meat trade in Southeast Asia. Therefore, we will also be spending a significant amount of time volunteering with the rescue dogs at the sanctuary. We just adopted Jolene, a rescue pup of our very own, so we think this is a very special and important cause close to our hearts!

We can't think of a better way to spend our honeymoon than helping animals who truly need us, and we’ll be certain to document our adventure in Thailand along the way! After our week of volunteering to help improve the plight of the elephants and dogs at the sanctuary, we plan to spend just a few days of rest in Chiang Mai and the nearby island of Krabi before heading back to United States. We quite humbly thank you in advance for any contributions to our honeymoon (the elephants and pups thank you too) and we love you all!
