Q: Can I take photos/videos of your wedding ceremony?
A: We ask that you be present and in the moment with us; and kindly request that you do not take photos/videos during our intimate wedding ceremony. We will have our hired professional photographers take care of this part.
Q: What about other parts of your wedding?
A: By all means, YES! Feel free to capture all the photos and videos that you want for the rest of the fun-filled day!
Q: May I post photos to social media?
A: If you want to post some of your favorite photos to a social site, we recommend using Instagram. We have a unique Insta hashtag that we would like our guests to use when posting photos: #randbmix18. By tagging your photos with this hashtag, we all get to search and enjoy all our photos...all in one place!
Q: What attire shall I wear to the wedding?
A: "Southern semi-formal" is the tone we are going for.
This is a southern wedding, therefore we invite all guests to have fun with your attire!
Q: Why is it a Friday wedding instead of a Saturday?
A: We are sensitive to the fact that you all are paying to travel for our wedding. Therefore, we chose a Friday so wedding guests could spend the rest of the weekend sightseeing and enjoying your time in NOLA at your discretion and on your own terms.
Q: Are children allowed at the wedding?
A: Outside of immediate family, children are not allowed.
Q: Can I bring a guest/"plus one" to your wedding?
A: Our wedding is very small and intimate; with just our dearest and closest friends and family (you!) sharing our life event with us. We have tailored all of the experiences to be very personal, therefore our wedding is invite only.
Q: Do I need to buy a gift?
A: We fully understand and are sensitive to the fact that destination weddings are expensive for our guests and want to emphasize that your presence IS our gift! We 100% have no expectations for gifts. If there are guests that would still like to gift something, we have this website set-up to accept contributions towards our honeymoon in Spring 2019 to the French Polynesian Islands. Navigate to the "Our registry" section for more details.
Q: Why did you choose New Orleans for a wedding destination?
A: We are HUGE fans of vacationing down south for our domestic travels. There are so many things to love: the southern hospitality and culture, the food, the arts, the history and the diversity! We hope you can see through our eyes why we feel this area is so special and charming!
Q: I have never been to New Orleans before. What would you recommend doing?
A: We have a plethora of recommendations of things to do (from our own experiences here)! Here are some of them:
1. Eat southern foods and drink some of the local fare! Some of our favorite local restaurants that we tried include:
a.) Acme Oyster - Famous for their char-grilled oysters. Be prepared for lines. Pro tip: don't go anytime close to lunch or dinner hours.
b.) Commanders Palace - Excellent brunch (dress code enforced). Pro Tip: Make a reservation ASAP if you intend on going here.
c.) Mr. B's Bistro - mix of southern, seafood and steaks/burgers. Something for everyone.
d.) Luke - French, German, Cajun Creole, excellent oysters, cocktails and brunch. Across the street from the hotel the wedding party is staying at.
e.) Pêche - Seafood. We really liked everything we had there.
*Please see link below, "Yelp's Best Restaurants in New Orleans " for more restaurant ideas!
2. Swamp tour - See the back swamps and alligators.
3. Royal Street - Vibrant art scene and antiques.
4. Jackson Square - St. Louis Cathedral (c 1700) is located here. Live performances and street artists.
5. Frenchman Street - Rich jazz music scene. Catch a show!
6. City Park - Stroll through the park and see some Spanish moss trees
7. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop - Bar that dates back to the 1700's.
8. Grave Tour - Unique and beautiful above ground graves.
9. Voodoo Museum - Learn about how voodoo is engrained in NOLA culture.
10. Plantation Tours - Some of the most beautiful historical plantations ever! We recommend the historic Oak Alley Plantation, which has been showcased in the movie, "Interview with the Vampire" and the Beyoncé "Deja Vu" video. The 500 year-old oaks are breathtaking!
11. Garden District - Wonderful area to see beautiful and elegant southern homes (Brad Pitt, Author Anne Rice and Beyoncé all have homes here) and discover some yummy restaurants as well! Take a cable car there, if you can!
