Hello beloved friends and Scripps family,

SHHH! THIS IS A SURPRISE!!! After years of anticipation and immigration hurdles, my brother Robert, is thrilled to receive his beloved wife Wei in a couple of days! In the words of Robert, “I can’t wait to hold my wife in my arms.” It has been nearly four years since the couple have last seen each other!

The happy pair originally started off as pen pals in attempts for Robert to master the language of Mandarin but much to his surprise he also ended up mastering the language of love. The two wed years ago, but due to a lengthy citizenship application process their relationship remained long distance. Since their time apart, it has been a tedious process of paperwork and interviews for Wei to get her visa and for the two to finally be together again. Even with these challenges, Robert never dwelled in negativity.

Like any couple we all face difficulties but 2020 has been the hardest for the Aikens. Earlier this year Robert's father went to be with the Lord. Being the selfless, big hearted person that he is, Robert has devoted himself to care for his widowed mother. If her house needs repairs or if she needs to be taken to a Doctor's appointment he is the first one on the scene. For those of you who may not know Robert personally, I assure you there is plenty more where that came from. If only you could see how well he treats our hospital patients. He recently was recognized by Scripps Health for his commitment to providing exceptional patient care. He has given so much of himself to others and I would love to see some of that come back to him and his wife.

As Robert and Wei officially begin their life as Mr. and Mrs. I would like to propose showering this very worthy couple with a little surprise kindness.
