Hello friends and family! As we rapidly approach our travel, here are some important updates you will need to know in order to make your travel easy and successful. We are planning to arrive on June 24th. We would like to do a large family get together on the 27th around 1:00pm at Poipu beach park, but this will depend on capacity restrictions. We will update you as soon as we have more information. The wedding is at the Sheraton Kauai in Poipu at 4:00pm (contrary to save the date). The rental car situation in Kauai is insane right now, there are extensive wait times for cars and some people wait just to find out there is no car and are refunded and without a vehicle. In this case, there are taxi services available. So check with the airport or rental car staff to help you with this. Please be prepared for this unexpected change.
As for testing, please look at the trusted testing partners link below to go to the correct site to get your COVID test. The 2 recommended are Kaiser and CVS. You must test within 72 hours of your LAST LEG of your travel. If you have a non-stop flight, this would be from the time you depart. If you do not have a nonstop flight, it would be from the start of your inter-island flight. Keep in mind the time change in HI is 3 hours behind our time (for example- 11:00am CA time is 8:00am HI time). If you book through CVS you need to be on the “Self-Pay Testing” site. You will need to pay $139. This will be to guarantee that your results come back within 1-2 days. If you input your insurance and do not pay, the results will come between 3-5 days (most likely after you arrive). If you do not have your negative test results by the time you arrive in Kauai, you will need to stay at the airport (not your hotel) until you recieve your negative results.
