For our honeymoon, we'll be taking a cruise around the Western Mediterranean and then spend time exploring Spain and Portugal!
We both love an active travel experience with plenty of culture. We'll be exploring a new city each day on the cruise with a new adventure each evening. We'll sample Italian wines, taste French cheeses, and engulf ourselves in new cultures by practicing our Italian and Spanish! Oh yea, that's right I said cheese!
We can't tell you how excited we are for this honeymoon. We've included some of the activities and experiences we'll be enjoying below. Thank you so much for considering a gift toward this once in a lifetime experience!
Our Cruise Itinerary:
Day 1 - Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
The Eternal City!! From the monuments of the ancient empire to the pursuit of la dolce vita, Rome is an unrivaled open-air museum and a lively modern metropolis. The tiny enclave of Vatican City is home to sacred sites and priceless art. We plan to see all the sights, the Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica, the Catacombs...what an experience!
Day 2 - Cannes, France
This celebrated seaside resort has helped define French Riviera chic and glamour for more than a century. We'll stroll down La Croisette, the Rodeo Drive of Monte Carlo, and get our window shop on...you know we are NOT a name-brand couple! We'll also learn the rich history of Cannes' Old Town and Vieux Port.
Day 3 - Ajaccio, Corsica, France
Ajaccio's monuments and squares celebrate Napoleon Bonaparte, its most famous native son. We'll walk in the footsteps of one of the world's greatest conquerors. We'll explore the elegant city delights with its mix of Italianate charm, Gallic style and Corsican culture against a stunning backdrop of rugged mountains.
Day 4 - Barcelona, Spain
A top European center for art, architecture, design and cuisine, this stylish city has its own language and culture. We'll practice our Spanish here and hope that they understand us. The soul of old Barcelona is its Gothic Quarter; outside the medieval district, we'll see as much of the city as we can and take in a historic play.
Day 5 - Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands
A rugged island with fine beaches, Mallorca will be like home for us, sun, sea and sand. Its capital city of Palma is home to a lively café and arts scene, we'll meander through twisting lanes and hidden courtyards.
Day 6 - Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy
Cagliari is a capital rich in art, culture, and Sardinian pride whose medieval heart is a fascinating fortified district. Famous for their wine, we'll definitely be on the hunt for some delicious, liquid souvenirs!
Day 7 - At Sea --- ---
Day 8 - Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
We'll then be spending our remaining time at a condo off the coast of Malaga in Southern Spain's Costa Del Sol. We'll take it all in and get some much needed R&R at the beach! We will also use this as our home base for assorted day trips around Spain, Portugal, and Northern Morocco.
