Traditionally, a wedding marks a transition into adulthood, and wedding gifts help give the couple a start on that. We have everything we need in terms of appliances and housewares, so no need to agonize over what kind of fancy kitchen gadgets to get us.

But as Lindsay is immigrating from Canada, we have a lot of expenses that most newlyweds don't have. Besides the typical moving expenses, there are visa fees and other immigration-related expenses. In particular, Lindsay's Adjustment of Status (getting her green card) costs a fair amount of money.

Because of this, we've decided to forgo the traditional wedding registry. While it is unconventional, what would help us the most is a cash gift (of any amount) to help offset these costs. This way, we can start this new chapter of our lives with minimal worries.
