Our relationship was born from our mutual nerd/geek credentials. The first time we were in a conversation together, Ben expertly fielded a Doctor Who reference Megan made, which set us on the fast track to friendship right off. Our first long, private, in depth conversations revolved around our aspirations as super villains, preferred power sets, and costuming color schemes and design. From there, friendship blossomed quickly and hearts soon fell. Our first date was seeing Marvel's Age of Ultron at the expensive movie theater at the Round Rock outlets. As time progressed, disclaimers were made, and the alignment of morals and values became clear. Disclaimers you may ask? Oh just the standard, “Just so you know, my family is crazy,” “Marvel is better than DC,” “By the way, I have enough student debt to overburden a small elephant,” and ever important “Kirk or Picard?” questions were all addressed early on. Get the big stumbling blocks out in the open early, as they say. With all the baggage out on the table before us, we took stock, and moved forward without delusion, clear understandings of where we each stood on the big topics, and a lack of surprises and secrets that so often lead to relationship drama. Wouldn’t make a good soap opera, but really put us on the road to healthy communication from the beginning. The vast majority of our drama is externally sourced, thank you much! With all the stars falling into line, its little wonder that we ended up at the altar together. It’s been whimsical, strangely calculated and logical, and bat shit insane intermittently and sometimes all at once. We have each other, and that support and love is what keeps the world spinning. Won’t claim our love is conventional, but it is wholly and indisputably, us.
