I'm finally fulfilling a life-long dream of traveling to South America! And Mark is along for the ride :) I chose Colombia because it has a little bit of everything; it's one of the most diverse countries on the planet. You can find snow-capped mountains, Caribbean beaches, lush green mountains and valleys, deserts and canyons, and let's not forget about the Amazon rain forest. The blend of cultures from Spanish, indigenous, and slave descendants make up a vibrant and diverse group of people. Travelers rave about how friendly and welcoming the people of Colombia are. In case you're wondering, it is no longer the dangerous place that it was in the 80's and 90's. We are looking forward to exploring the colonial city of Cartagena, climbing La Piedra del Peñol, sightseeing in Medellin, trekking the Cocora Valley, and relaxing in small-town Jardin.
