Greetings!
Howdy, friends & neighbors.
A long, long time ago, under a tall tree near a natural spring, far, far away, Adam & Ashton declared their feelings for each other to be legally binding. That historic event on August 8, 2021 set in motion a series of daring adventures which led to the newlyweds (and their four-legged friend, Frank) pulling up their Texas roots to traverse the country into the arms of their dream farm in upstate New York...
The listing for this house claimed that it was built in 1940, but a visible inscription in the basement foundation reads "1924". The previous owner stayed here for 43 years and remains an incredible resource and inspiration to us. The house has steady bones, gorgeous woodwork, and she's a shapeshifter: the property has been a greenhouse business, a dairy barn, a family home, a chicken and goat residence, and long before that, home to the Iroquois.
In addition to sheltering ourselves, our ultimate vision for this beautifully wooded 3-acre property, 2-story barn, and 1920's farmhouse is to establish a space where artists of many disciplines can tuck themselves away to restore, create, and record. We are conspiring to design a retreat sanctuary that will bring inspired folks through the rural hill country of Albany County, NY. It's quiet and gorgeous up here, and we miss you.
We're fortunate to have obtained a host of home furnishings and domestic possessions, but we wouldn't mind a little help with fortifying and improving the home itself: The kitchen needs a full renovation, the drafty living room needs new flooring, Frank needs a fence to frolic freely in the yard, Adam plans to convert the second floor of the barn into a recording space, and Ashton aims to insulate and revamp the attic for her art studio.
To that end, in lieu of a traditional wedding gift registry, we've created this site! Anyone may contribute funds to our renovation budget if you are able and inclined. Honeyfund is a safe and secure way to do so. Contact us at the link below if you have any questions and we can walk you through it, or share our mailing address if you would rather have that.
The most exciting part of all of this is to finally, formally share the news with you! We have been holed up unpacking, garage-saling, drilling, painting, plumbing, shoveling, and nesting through the winter, slowly adjusting to a brand new lifestyle and ecosystem up here, y'all.
Your blessing is a generous gift in any form. We have many more pictures to show you and can't wait for you to visit. Bring your tools, there's work to do.
Thank you, we love you!
