Portland, OR, USA

Greetings!

Welcome to our webpage, lovely people!

Before you donate to our honeymoon trip, you may be wondering some things:

Why the Pacific Northwest?

Don’t you both know that California and Florida are a thing?

Or maybe the Caribbean; that’s also definitely a place with sunshine, nice weather, and all those honeymoon-type vibes?

Are y’all afraid of the Pirates of the Caribbean, is that why you didn’t want to go there?

Do you understand that those movies are not a 5-part documentary series, and ghost pirates aren’t real?

Well, although we definitely plan on traveling to a variety of places around the world in our married lives, we decided to go with Portland, Oregon and the coast for a few reasons. First, Jody is a public school teacher whose vacations are typically summer-based; it’s getting pretty hot out here folks, so closer to the equator doesn’t sound like a place we’d like to be for our first official couple vacation.

Yeah, we know Portland got crazy hot last summer. There are other reasons, alright?

Second, Kesa & Jody both enjoy sampling wine and craft beer from a variety of small, local businesses. The Willamette Valley (it’s like Napa Valley but without the strong branding) in Oregon is well-regarded as a wonderful wine-growing region, and the Oregon Brewers Festival at the end of July showcases entrepreneuring brewers (fun challenge: try saying “entrepreneuring brewers” without sounding like you just had a glass of Tank 7) from around the country.

Third, the Oregon coast has beautiful scenery: densely forested hiking trails, sand dunes rising and falling like waves on the beach, and rock formations that mark the divide between land and sea. Furthermore, the weather is precisely the kind of thing we’re looking for to escape those 90-degree dog days of Summer. Google Cape Kiwanda right now. For real. Or don’t. We still love you either way.

So, to wrap it all up, we would like to say thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Any and all donations made will go towards our airfare, lodging, and entertainment budget. Know that when we’re out on the beach, enjoying a pint of ale at the Pelican, and smelling the ocean breeze at a refreshing 67.4 degrees, we will raise our glasses to you and be grateful that we can call you our nearest and dearest friends and family.

Love,

Kesa & Jody
