An Italian Road Trip in 2020!

We both love driving and road trips, so we were thinking to do the Paris Dakar rally, but thought that wouldn't be very relaxing for a honeymoon! We also both love good food! So we decided on an Italian road trip, because the food is so good, the countryside is breathtaking and Felipe is Brazilian/Italian and has never been to Italy!

We thought a leisurely jaunt through the Italian countryside sampling the delights of Italian cuisine and soaking up the sun and the beauty of all that Italy has to offer in an open top car sounds dreamy.

Our wish is to hire a convertible car and drive from the North to the South. Starting in the Romantic region of Tuscany, with a wine tour in Poppi, and driving down through to Florence, to have a few days to immerse ourselves in Renaissance culture and ice cream, and then onto the beautiful medieval city of Sienna.

Moving on to spend a few days in the capital of Rome and then onward to Naples where some of Felipe's family originates from, and apparently they have the best pizza in the world!

Then down to the little coastal town of Sorrento to spend a few nights by the sea, eating fresh sea food and sipping delicious wine before heading a little further along to the Amalfi coast to a little town called Positano, which is famous for it's Spaghetti alle Vongole and where we will get the boat to the Island of Capri, famous of course for it's Insalata Caprese! Yum!

Returning to the mainland to have a of couple nights in Atrani, a little fishing village known for it's simplistic lifestyle and fresh seafood. We'll then leave the Amalfi coast and head down towards Sicily through the Del Cilento national park and Del Pollino national park.

Our final destination is Sicily where we will spend a few days in Cefalu, and Mondello, sampling the local Arancini, cannoli and the heavenly home made Sicilian gelato! Specifically Chocolate and Pistachio as they are our favourite flavors!

This is our idea of a dream honeymoon, but we are equally happy to rent a normal car, stay in cheap Airbnb's and eat pizza and ice cream every night under the stars, because the main thing is we will be together on an adventure.

A nosotros nos encanta los viajes en coche. Asi que consideramos hacer el rally Paris Dakar, pero esto no seria muy relajado para una luna de miel! También nos encanta la buena mesa! Por lo tanto hemos decidido por hacer un tour en Italia en coche. Pués la comida es deliciosa y el aire en el campo limpio y refrescante. Incluso Felipe además de ser brasileno es italiano y jamas ha visitado Italia.

Pensamos un paseo tranquilo por los pueblos italianos, probando la exquisita cocina italiana y disfrutando del sol y la belleza que Italia ofrece, todo esto en un coche descapotable, lo que nos parece de sueno.

La idea es alquilar un coche y conducir del norte hasta el sur. Empezando por la romantica Toscana, atraves de las bodegas en Poppi y seguido por Florencia y asi desfrutar unos dias de la cultura renacentista y de los helados tambien. A continuación la bella ciudad medieval Sienna.

Luego un poco más hasta la capital Roma para entonces tomar rumbo a Napolis, donde viven los familiares de Felipe y segun dicen, la mejor pizza del mundo!

Depues, por la costa llegariamos a Sorrento para unas noches en la playa, bebiendo a sorbos los vinos y algo de frutos del mar, eso antes de seguir para la costa Amalfi, donde se encuentra un poetico pueblo llamado Positano, famoso por su 'espaguetti al vongole' y donde se puede tomar un barco para la isla de Capri, famoso para su 'insalata caprese'. Deliciosa!

Volviendo al continente, nos encantaria unos dias en Atrani, pequena villa aldea de pescadores, sencilla y tambien rica en frutos del mar.

Si con tanta comida nos da de seguir, la idea es Sicilia, atravesando el parque nacional Del Cilento y el Del Polino. Ali unos dias en Cefalo y Mondelo.

Mas comida... Arancine, canole y el gelatto artesanal siciliano (impagable). Nuestros sabores preferidos Chocolate y pistachio!

Esto que les contamos es nuestro sueño ideal de luna de miel, pero estaremos igual de felices con un coche sencillo, dormir en Airbnb, comer pizza y helados y una bella noche con estrellas.

Por que lo mas importante es que estaremos juntos en esta aventura que es vivir.
