Greetings!
Hello friends and family,
Sorry if you did not receive your invitation to our wedding. It is probably because we did not send any!
While you may not have been invited to the wedding, we would like to cordially invite you to our registry.
Here's a little bit about us as a couple:
How We Met: The year was 2017. Both Derek and Kristen had begun meddling in the world of online dating. We "matched" and began to chat. About a week later, we decided to meet for burgers at the famous Hodads in Ocean Beach. We awkwardly found each other in the 25 person line outside of the restaurant. Derek didn't know this yet, but Kristen is incredibly impatient when it comes to waiting for food. Derek turned to Kristen and said, "This line is crazy long. Want to go somewhere else?" We walked across the street to a Mexican restaurant and ate burritos. And that was the beginning.
Our Wedding:
We had planned for a small wedding on a beach or hiking trail (when we say small we mean the two of us, an officiant, and a witness). But with the change of events and the pandemic crisis, we had lost hope of this type of wedding. We got a call about an opportunity for a social distance marriage hut ceremony outside the courthouse. We were actually the first people in San Diego to go through the marriage hut, so we were interviewed and had our whole ceremony recorded. It was unique and beautiful and perfect in its own way. When things seem uncertain and there is so much sadness in the world, we wanted to commit to each other and bring some light into the picture.
Our honeymoon
Originally, we were supposed to take a trip this summer to visit Derek's family in Kentucky and then take a cruise to the Bahamas. With the outbreak of the virus, our plans are now uncertain. So we would love to build funds for whatever honeymoon we may take in the future, whether it's a cruise to the Bahamas or a trip to Tahiti.
Love,
Derek and Kristen
