Dooka & Hillary are FINALLY getting married! Can you BELIEVE it!

Here’s our story

We’ve been together for ten years and engaged for five. We’ve got a house together. We been through starting own businesses to career changes. We haven’t killed each other of setting up burning man 6 times together. We have had ups and downs. We know when to rock, know when to stop a fight, know each other well enough to tie the knot!

This delay in marriage had been because we’re always doing something and planning this grand event is hard! We’re terrible at planning but great at participating! So when a close friend invited us and about 40 of some of our close friends to a 50th birthday celebration at a tropical Mexico beach celebration, and the idea of a authentic beach wedding experience sprung we couldn’t say no to this opportunity.

(Just a fun side note about this event. As you know, burning man is a big part of our life, we got engaged there but have always been hesitant to marry there. So this event is our core burning man camp retreat in lieu of not having the event this year. So we get the playa (beach), burn vibe and fam, but ALSO fancy bathrooms and showers!)

We’re EXCITED to make this announcement and share updates and photos as the event nears.

Our plan is to have the ceremony on 10/20/2021. A Wednesday, our favourite night at the burn and symbolic to us. It’s always our date night and reflection of everything.

When we return to Asheville we will hibernate into the winter and enjoy holidays and Christmas! You all know we love Christmas. Lol

Then when the weather warms up and spring comes alive we will make invite for everyone that can make it to our home, for “a simple bbq, that might just get a little out of control” :)

We will dress our home and back yard up. Have some sound, photo projections, dance, food and drink and a genuine time to celebrate!

We sincerely hope not to hurt feelings over a destination wedding and limited attendance but we were at a point of if we don’t do it to this palette laid out for us we would just never have the “oomph” to plan something big enough to exactly how our imaginary minds have always envisioned. This beach wedding bait is just what we needed to jump at and make it official.

We love you all so so so much. You are all family and we hope you approve of this message!

As far as this gifting app goes, our physical essential needs are well met and we are so grateful for the lives we have. If you would like to share a token of any help with funds to throw this off is of great help. We’re doing all things to make it just right and will put any contributions towards both events, in Mexico and Asheville. (But if you have this one “as seen on tv” thing that we absolutely need for the kitchen, we wouldn’t say no.)
