Greetings!
We've already poured our hearts out in the announcement we sent to you all, so here we'd like to share a little bit about our upcoming Balinese adventure. :)
There are two phases to this adventure.
Phase 1: Nusa Penida - Island life
Phase 2: Ubud - Jungle life
Once we land in Bali, we'll be taking a ferry to Nusa Penida, a small island straight out of a fairytale. We'll be staying in an actual Tree House (see photo above) for the first few nights overlooking cliffside views of Atuh Beach, with it's massive rock formations, white sand beach, and crystal clear, teal-blue water.
We'll travel the island over the next few days via motorbike to discover sacred temples, relax on surreal beaches, eat insanely delicious food, and even swim with manta rays! Not only are they harmless, but they're considered very friendly and quite curious of humans. Their average wingspan is 20 feet and they weigh 1-3 TONS. For comparison, a giraffe is about 18 feet tall and a Jeep is 2 tons.
After a few days on Nusa, we'll take the ferry back to the main island of Bali and then travel to the middle of the jungle, to Ubud. We newlyweds will be staying at the Viceroy, a slightly more luxurious stay than the treehouse. All of their villas are hidden within trees, perched on a jungle cliffside, overlooking nothing but a lush Balinese jungle valley and iconic rice terraces.
As we continue to explore by motorbike, the real foodie adventure begins! As you all know, we live to eat. Not just for the sake of eating, but the experience behind the meal. From hidden-gem street food to Michelin Star restaurants, we've researched and planned out our every detail of our culinary adventure.
Between all of these culinary delights, we'll be working up appetites by exploring all that Ubud has to offer. Cycling through rice terraces, hiking to hidden waterfalls, walking the Campuhan Ridge at sunrise, couples massages, swinging from infamous Bali swings, visiting sacred temples, and of course, playing some golf at Handara.
As we mentioned in our previous letter, this experience is symbolic of not just how far we've come and what we went through to get here, but signifies starting the next chapter of our storybook story.
We've created this site to share a little more about our upcoming adventure since we've missed so many functions with family and friends where we'd normally catch up about things like this. We also know that some family and friends have asked us how they can send their love and congratulations. So, in response to those requests, we've created an extremely no-pressure option to contribute to our honeymoon and future life together via the link below.
Thank you for being such an important part of our story.
Cinta,
Shaun and Charlene Fisher
