Japan
We are planning an exciting honeymoon to Japan in 2022 that we want to fill with fun, adventure and of course great food!
We plan to start in Tokyo and spend a few days exploring and sightseeing. We want to visit the Studio Ghibli museum, the robot restaurant (a high-energy show featuring robots, dragons, ninjas, blue-haired dancers, creepy clowns, guitarists on swings, drummers, and lots of flashing neon lights...as you do) and maybe a sumo stable to witness how the iconic sumo wrestlers train. After Tokyo we have several ideas in mind.
Hakone - cable car over the Owakudani crater created by the eruption of Mount Hakone 3000 years ago with amazing views of Mount Fuji from the top.
Takayama and Okuhida - Takayama is a mountain town famous for its woodwork and Hida beef. Nearby Okuhida is famed for its hot springs, traditional ryokan inns and beautiful mountain views. It is also home to the Shinhotaka ropeway - a double-decker cablecar that takes you up to 2150m for a spectacular view.
Koya-san - staying overnight in a temple in this sacred mountain town. Joining in with the monks in their morning prayers and breakfast and exploring the temples and shrines.
Osaka - known for its food and also its castle, we hope to do a days cycling tour and then stuff our faces in the evening (never seen so many michelin starred restaurants listed in one place).
Kyoto - We hope to spend several days in Kyoto as there is so much to do and see including many temples and shrines and walking through a bamboo forest. We hope to take part in a traditional tea ceremony and maybe take a calligraphy class.
Osaka - known for its food and also its castle, we plan to do a days cycling tour and then stuff our faces in the evening (never seen so many Michelin starred restaurants listed in one place). Hopefully we can fit in a day trip to Nara, it was Japan's first permanent capital city and is now designated a UNESCO Worl Heritage Site.
Hiroshima - we plan to stay 1 night in Hiroshima in order to explore and spend time visiting the Peace Memorial Park which commemorates the destruction of the city in 1945.
And then it will be time to return home and probably wish for a holiday to recover ;p
