After a long flight over the ocean, we'll start our honeymoon on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. We discovered the Azores while researching Portugal and really fell in love with it. Lush mountain peaks and tropical forests, dipping in geothermal pools amidst botanical gardens, gin and wine tastings, and incredible local fresh seafood are just some of the many reasons we're excited to explore this paradise in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, which is often referred to as "Europe's Hawaii"!

Next on our list, we'll fly over to Porto, where we'll sip port wine, eat many pasteis de nata (and a francesinha if we're brave or foolhardy enough), and wander all the cobblestone narrow alleys as we soak up the beautiful architecture of Portugal's second largest city.

Next, a train will take us down to the capital city of Lisbon, where we'll eat ALL the fresh seafood everyday, venture out to Sintra to see epic castles in the mountains, pop into quirky museums, watch a live fado performance, and explore the city's numerous scenic overlooks!

Finally, to wind down our trip, we'll hop over to one more beautiful Portuguese island for some final rest and relaxation: Madeira. There we'll go on little hikes so high up that you're walking above the clouds, visit ancient misty forests, swim in natural volcanic swimming pools along crashing ocean waves, drink poncha (their local fermented, and VERY boozy, sugarcane punch), and eat grilled barnacles and limpets.
