New Date

August 21, 2023

This date is only our best guess of when a wedding might be possible, as visa delays keep happening! We will only have an official wedding date approximately 90 days in advance! So don't mark those calendars just yet! ;)

Greetings!

Hello our beloved friends and family from the United States, Dominican Republic and beyond!

We have a unique love story and are honored that you would like to share in our journey to marriage!

We met in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, where Alex lives, while Kris was on vacation and it was love at first sight! We were engaged after 7 months together and started the process for Alex to immigrate to the US and move to New York City to marry Kris. Now, we want to peel back the curtain and share exactly what that complicated process looks like and how you can help us start our life together!

At a glance, the entire US Immigration process under a K-1 Fiance Visa (The "90-Day Fiance" Visa) can take between 18 to 24 months or more. The entire process will cost us approximately $4,395 USD.

The breakdown goes:

Step 1: Kris applies for the Petition Paperwork with the US Citizenship and Immigration Department (This was an 86 page packet!)- $535 fee

Currently the wait for this step to process is 13-15 months! (When we started, it was 5.5-7.5 months. The wait keeps getting longer!)

Step 2: The Petition goes to the National Visa Center and Kris files an Affidavit of Support- $120 fee

The wait for this step is approximately 2 weeks.

Step 3: Alex files a Visa Application in the DR- $530 fee

The wait for this step is approximately 1 month.

Step 4: Alex must have a medical exam in the DR- $360 fee

Then wait 2 weeks.

Step 5: Alex will have an interview at the US Embassy in the DR.

If approved, the visa will be issued in 1 week!

Step 6: Alex flies on a one-way ticket to New York!- $400 approx

Step 7: We have 90 days to get married!! :)

Step 8: We file an Adjustment of Status so that Alex has permission to work and travel in the US- $2,450 fee

This step takes 3-6 months.

Step 9: We appear for an interview together to prove the validity of our marriage.

If approved….

Step 10: We live happily ever after in New York! :)

As you can see, the process takes a lot of patience, love, trust, and… funds! Which is where you come in!

We would be overjoyed for each of you to help send us along our way to the finish line. So we invite you to choose your favorite step in the process and contribute to our Honeyfund as a bridal shower or wedding gift.

Thank you for your gifts! When we look back at our journey, we will be thankful for each person who had a hand in making our marriage possible.
