How to get to Ridgway:
DRIVE
From Santa Cruz, the drive is about 17-20 hours depending on traffic. It is a beautiful drive and worth it to stop in Primm or Mesquite to stay the night and make it easier on yourself. When Phoenix and I drove out there, we stayed in Mesquite at the Virgin River Hotel and locked our keys in the car. It was a fun experience to say the least. You can either go North through Tahoe, or South through Vegas. They're both about the same.
FLY
The nearest airport to Ridgway is Montrose (MTJ) You will have to rent a car to get into town (about a 30 min drive). Most flights take you to Denver and then to Montrose. It's a beautiful flight over the mountains. If you need help with transportation to and from Montrose and don't want to rent a car, reach out to Phoenix or Erin and we can arrange something for you.
Takes about 8 hours to travel via plane, can range depending on layovers etc.
Flight prices range, and tend to be a little pricier. As of December, the cheapest flight I looked up to Montrose was $400.
TRAIN
A fun option to sit back and relax, and get to see different parts of the U.S. you haven't seen before. If the train leaves at San Jose, it will take about a day to get to Grand Junction, which is a little over 1 hour 30 mins from Ridgway. This option you would definitely need to rent a car.
Tickets are about $130 each way depending on the option you choose.
What to do in Ridgway:
There are so many amazing and fun things to do out here. It's a beautiful place with a lot of outdoor activities. In August, it is monsoon season, so be prepared for a little bit of rain and lighting on and off, and maybe some thunder too. The surrounding towns include Ouray, Telluride, and Montrose. There are tons of hikes and waterfalls around this vicinity.
