To find the Contrabando Movie Set (also known as the Contrabando Day Use Area): From Lajitas, Travel approximately five miles west on FM 170. The location will be on the south side of the road. Parking is very limited, so please carpool to limit congestion at the request of the State Park. We ask that no additional guest attend without our prior approval. Please help us preserve the natural beauty of the park, we ask that you; please pick up any trash or debris left behind, and do not take anything from the park (rocks, flowers, or any other natural souvenirs). Any deviation could result in additional fines and fees. Finally, please be aware that this is a desert climate. Water will be provided, so please stay hydrated. There may be wildlife present, so please be aware of your surroundings. The Rio Grande river, as well as Mexico, is visible from the site. Crossing the river into Mexico, even with a valid passport, is illegal and could result in a $5000 fine and possible jail time.
