• Sleeping like Royalty

  Opportunities to stay in a castle are relatively few and far between, so we decided to indulge in one evening of fancifulness.

• Bed and Breakfasts

  These are the backbone of our trip; adventuring is great, but we need a base of operations to fuel up at the start of each day and recharge at the end.

• Paris Crash Pad

  Are you practical and no-nonsense? Tired of seeing all these frivolous tours and treats? This is the choice for you. To maximize our day in Paris, we’ll stay near the airport and leave early in the AM

• Apartment Rental in France

  We arrive in Auxerre, jet-lagged and disoriented, sojourners in a strange land. Luckily a short-term studio apartment is pretty reasonable, so we can hide away until we’re ready to venture out.

• Romantic Dinner in France

  Maybe it’s a bit of a cliché, but sometimes you just want dinner to include candles and a table cloth*. *Terms and conditions apply, accordion player sold separately.

• Fancy Dinner in Ireland

  Depending on the timing, this might be dinner and a show or just a chance to enjoy an actual restaurant. Either way, it’ll be nice to spice up one evening with something a little more involved.

• Casual Dinner

  Pub Meals are a UK casual dining staple, and provide the best value for hot meals on the go. The fact that they come with a pint of beer is just a happy coincidence!

• Adventure Lunch

  Many of the trips we’re looking forward to are in the country, so we need to keep lunches easy and portable. Milk, sandwiches, and fresh vegetables; for the honeymooners on the go!

• Guédelon Castle Tickets

  This is the reason we’re detouring into France. A new castle built using only 13th century techniques, visiting this exercise in “experimental archaeology” has been a dream of Dan’s for years.

• Car Rental

  One day’s car rental. Although the cities themselves are very walkable, a car will give us freedom to make day trips without relying on tour buses and rigid schedules.

• Groceries for a day

  Our room in France will have a small kitchen, and that’s how we intend to survive visiting a foreign country with a picky eater. Just say “NO” to escargot!
