Instead, it was discovered and cultivated over thousands of years by various ancient cultures in Mesoamerica. The Olmecs were the first to consume cacao, making a bitter drink from it as early as 1500 B.C. Later, the Mayans refined the process and used it extensively, before the Aztecs adopted the tradition and referred to the drink as "chocolate". Anyhow love you!
