More Information

Hello Friends and Family! We are thrilled to have you join us for our wedding on Sunday, August 17th, at our family homestead in Anchor Point. Thank you so much for taking the time to RSVP, and for joining me and Jalijah for our special day. Here are some details that will be helpful as you arrive in Anchor Point and Homer, as well as on the day of the wedding. Arriving in Homer and Anchor Point As a reminder, Anchor Point is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes from Anchorage. If you plan to drive to the wedding on Sunday, it is suggested that you leave no later than 9:00 a.m. to avoid traffic and arrive on time. Anchor Point is located between Ninilchik and Homer. Most accommodations, hotels, and Airbnb rentals are located in Homer, which is a 25-30 minute ride to and from the wedding venue. There will be a sign on the side of the road when you pull into Anchor Point that says "Welcome to the Pyhala-Bennett Wedding." Chillywind Drive, or my family's homestead, is a direct left-hand turn off of the highway, about three street signs after the "Welcome to Anchor Point" city sign. You may park anywhere along the right-hand side of the road leading up to the venue. Be mindful not to park too far into the ditch- or you may experience some trouble getting out. Camping on the Property Either camping or car camping is permitted on the property. Please be mindful and respectful of the space, as it is a family homestead. If you are camping, please message me beforehand so we can get a headcount of individuals sleeping on the property. Additionally, assistance with clean-up is appreciated from those who are camping on the homestead. After the ceremony and reception are over, those who are camping may set up a tent near the back side of the front lawn of the house. Please plan to pack and clean up by 10 a.m. the following morning. Things To Do in Anchor Point and Homer There are TONS of things to do in Anchor Point and Homer. If you arrive in town early, here are some things to do in the area while you're there. Homer is a quaint, oceanside town with a special charm. 1. Park your car in town, and walk to local restaurants, bars, gift shops, bookstores, and more along the way. 2. Visit the iconic Homer Spit, located at the far end of town. Park along the dock to take a walk along the boats, and see some wildlife in the harbor- or visit more local gift shops, coffee shops, and local favorite food spots. During your time on the spit, you can also do some beach combing to find seashells, sea stars, and more. 3. Visit Bishops Beach and Two Sisters Bakery (Moira used to work there when she was 16!) 4. Visit the Homer Conservation Islands and Oceans Center to learn about the local ecology, oceans, etc. 5. Take a walk along the boardwalk at the Wynn Nature Center. It is very peaceful, and you will encounter a diverse array of wildlife along the way. 6. See a movie at the Porcupine Theater. The Day of the Wedding We suggest that guests arrive no later than 1:30 to get settled, parked, and mingle with other guests before the ceremony. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2 p.m. If you would like to help with the day of setup, please let me know in advance so I may give my grandma a heads up on how many helpers to expect. The run of show of events is as follows: 2 pm: Ceremony 2:30 pm: Cocktail Hour (while bride and groom are taking photos with family) 3:15 pm: Reception starts 4:00 pm: Dinner & Speeches, and afterparty to follow 9:00 pm: Clean-up starts 9:30-10ish: Grand exit and clean up Other information about the wedding: During the ceremony, we kindly request that you refrain from taking any photos or video recordings. We have paid professional photographers to capture all the special moments of the day (and if you post a bad picture of Moira, she will never forgive you). Additionally, we have set up a photo drop app so that guests can share personal photos taken with everyone at the wedding. You can think of the app as our own "Bennett Wedding Social Media." However, we kindly request that you refrain from posting any pictures on social media before the official photos are released. Lastly, if you are interested in contributing towards our HoneyFund, contributions in place of gifts will be accepted through the wedding. THANK YOU again to all of those who have already made our honeymoon and wedding come true. Many of our expenses for both adventures have been 100% covered with the support of our friends and family, which is truly the most meaningful gift we could ever receive. We don't need physical items- just the chance to experience a fantastic night with all of you and our dream vacation to follow in September! Here is the link to our HoneyFund If you have any questions, please feel free to call or text us at 907-830-7021. We are more than happy to chat, answer questions, or help with any logistics if needed. See you next weekend!
