Great Wedding Gifts Wedding Giveaway:

Today’s winner is Shannon Summers from Carlsbad New Mexico, Shannon is winning two Hotel Collection bathrobes from Macy’s! Congrats Shannon!

Budget Tip:

There is a winning formula for keeping the cost of your wedding to $1000 dollars, that’s right only $1000!!!

  1. Choose a public place, like a park that won’t charge you to hold your ceremony there. Have your guests stand to minimize rentals. (Keep the ceremony short since they’re standing.)
  2. For the reception, travel to a private home. If you don’t know someone, it can be a rented vacation home (Airbnb for example) for your reception. Be sure it has plenty of seating, tables and chairs included to avoid rentals.
  3. Hire a food truck for a fun, affordable, and delicious meal.

Special Guest Host Whitney Nelson:

Hosting with Sara this week was Whitney Nelson. Whitney is a Sonoma County native who runs a boutique wedding planning business, specializing in Sonoma and Napa County weddings.  Whitney has these tips for couples planning weddings:

  1. PLAN and plan methodically to keep your sanity and reduce stress.
  2. Choose budget and guest counts BEFORE your venue.
  3. Don’t count on guests not coming.
  4. It’s ok to choose a firstst string and seconnd string guest list if needed.
  5. VENUE! Look at many options, ask lots of questions (how late can you have music, etc). Your venue dictates your design so choose it relatively early in the process.
  6. When looking for a venue, look for VALUE.  Not just cost, but value. What are you getting for the cost? A few great venues in Sonoma/Napa Counties with great value:
    1. Kunde
    2. St. Jean
    3. Anadel State Park
    4. Paradise Ridge
  7. Design! Design is the one of the most exciting things for couples as they plan their wedding, it’s a fun way to express yourselves as a couple
