Photo strips make weddings funThis entry is from our Expert Guest series where wedding and honeymoon professionals share their best tips on creating memories that last a lifetime.

We know, we know, it’s another “top 5 reasons why” post, but these ones are the best kind especially if you’re hemming and hawing about whether or not to have a photo booth for your big day. Maybe you’ve never stepped foot inside a photo booth before? We’re going to assume you haven’t, because well if you had, you wouldn’t even need to question it!

Having had them at our own weddings, and enjoying them as a guest at friends’ weddings, we thought we’d share our thoughts on exactly why you absolutely should have a photo booth at your wedding! Or any other big celebration for that matter!

5 Reasons To Have A Photo Booth At Your Wedding

1. See your guests at their best.

No matter how discreet your photographer is, there are always a few people who will notice them snapping away and be restrained. But inside the photo booth, well anything can happen, I’ve only ever heard booming belly laughter coming out from behind those curtains, guests really do let go. It’s surprising what a few audacious props and the pressure of a prop change can do!

I don’t know about you, but those photos capturing laughter, silliness and raw enjoyment are some of my most precious.

2. It lightens up even the toughest of critics.

However much we love our family and friends, there will always be that person who needs coaxing out of their shell. A photo booth is an excellent way to get all ages joining in. Plus, the queue to join the fun will get your guests mingling. Using a banana for a pipe while wearing a pink feather boa and top hat is a damn good ice breaker right?

3. It’s instant.

Generally speaking, two copies of each session is printed, we highly recommend you set up a scrapbook, glue stick, and pen next to the booth, encouraging your guest to stick in a copy with a special message. Some photo booth companies offer this service as standard with the attendant ensuring all goes smoothly. But, if they don’t, put it on your to-do list now! It could also double up as your guest book!

Make a scrapbook with your photos

This is a great instant memento for them and for you, all of your nearest and dearest in one book having had a good ole’ time. Plus, your guests get to have a giggle at others’ pictures too. Be warned though, the longer the night goes on, the sillier the photos, the messier the messages, you might have some trouble deciphering. Nevertheless, you’ll have fun sifting through.

The morning after, guests asked us to bring the album down at breakfast, the fun continued with guests reminiscing about what a cracking night it was!

4. It’s good for flow.

The dinner is over, the room is being re-set; the band is setting up or playing to an empty dance floor; you’ve snuck away for some newlywed photos with your photographer and¦.with a photo booth, your guests are entertained!

Entertain your guests

At our weddings, without the photo booth, there would have been some time to fill. Guests being guests will naturally start to drift outside for a smoke, fresh air, or to stretch their legs after a 3-course meal; the photo booth not only fills the gaps in between changes and other happenings, it keeps the guests in the party vibe.

5. Bottom line, it’s fun and memorable for all!

I’m glad that you talked about how people are less restrained when they go into the photo booth. I have been planning a wedding and I was considering renting a photo booth. I’ll have to be sure to order one so everyone can keep the good memories of the wedding.

Great article. I totally agree that renting a photo booth can bring so much fun for everyone. Years from now, you can look back at you and your friends’ photos and see how silly you guys were! I would certainly rent one if there would be an event coming up. Thanks.

I like how you say that a photo booth can help fill the time when you’re getting pictures taken after you’re married but before the dinner. My fiance and I were wondering what we should have people do while we were getting ready for the dinner. We don’t want people to get bored, and our venue is pretty far away. I think that it’d be great if we could rent a photo booth.

It’s incredible how you inform those people planning there wedding how important it is to have some for your guest to do while their wedding party is busy with pictures and getting other things like dinner and such. I believe it’s important to remember how we are able to create a memory in the minds of their guests years after their wedding with that crazy photo from the photo booth.
