While Honeyfund was created as a honeymoon registry, we expanded its functionality last year to be used for any type of wedding gift. In other words, you can use it to raise cash to pay for anything you might need for your home or your new life together. Think furniture, home down payments, kitchen items, etc. We’ve also seen some very creative items like marathon sponsorships and even fertility treatments!

Today I wanted to give you a real-world example of how you might use Honeyfund to raise cash for a big-ticket item:

Lindsay sits down at her desk this morning and opens her e-mail. She sees one from Home Depot: 25% Off Dyson Vacuums! Use promo code: DYSON25OFF at checkout on homedepot.com. Valid 11/28 – 12/19. (p.s. This is a real deal I found today!)

She thinks, “Wow! That is a great deal! I’ve been dying to get a Dyson, but just couldn’t spend so much for it.”

Lindsay wishes she could put the Dyson on her gift registry but knows the sale expires 12/19/12.  Here’s how she can do it: She can buy the Dyson today at 25% off, and put it on her Honeyfund.  Let’s say the total she pays is $275. She adds the Dyson to her list, quantity: 11, price $25 each (total: $275). The Honeyfund contributions she receives essentially reimburse her for the cost of the vacuum!

Pretty cool, huh? Questions?
