FAQs—All the info you need

Can I have other gift registries and a Honeyfund?

Yes! In fact many couples have a Honeyfund in addition to a traditional registry or two. A house wares registry is nice for bridal shower gifts. And this way your guests have plenty of choices. You can even link your other registries to your Honeyfund wedding web page.

How do we receive our gift money?

Here's the best thing about Honeyfund: All your gift payments come directly to you from your gift givers! We keep our service free by avoiding credit card processing fees. That means we never handle your money. Instead, your gift givers are instructed to pay you directly by cash or check. They can either mail you their payment or present it to you at a shower or at the wedding, along with their Honeyfund gift certificate. If you want your guests to have the option of paying by credit card, you can use PayPal (for a small fee). See the next question for more information.

How do the online payments via PayPal work?

After searching high and low, we could not find a way to take online payments without incurring a fee. But there is a low-cost way you can accept credit cards payments directly from your guests: PayPal. Their transaction fees are very reasonable and you can sign up for a free account in minutes. Guests will be redirected to PayPal to make their credit card payment as they would for any other web purchase (without needing a PayPal account). You'll receive the payments immediately into your PayPal account, directly from your guests. See our PayPal Setup Guide for more info.

Is Honeyfund.com safe and reliable for me and my guests?

Honeyfund is very safe because we never handle your money. All transactions happen directly between you and your guests. If you choose to use PayPal, Honeyfund redirects guests to PayPal's website where they make payment directly into your PayPal account using PayPal's secure servers. Honeyfund also uses secure servers to collect and store your personal information.

Your personal information is also safe thanks to the McAfee Secure certification. Honeyfund.com has also been awarded the Better Business Bureau's Online Reliability seal.

What if we don't receive most of our Honeyfund gifts until the wedding day?

Most couples set some money aside to make their travel reservations before they’ve started receiving Honeyfund gifts, and reimburse themselves as the gifts come in. Some couples book their travel on a credit card that can be paid off close to or after the wedding. It's also smart to start your honeymoon a day or two after your wedding so you can deposit any last-minute gifts before you leave.

What if we don't receive enough money from our Honeyfund?

You'll want to think about how many guests are attending that might be open to contributing to your honeymoon and do a rough estimate. Most likely people will surprise you with their generosity. Just make sure you get the word out by notifying guests of your Honeyfund. And most importantly, make sure you have backup plan in case you don't receive enough to cover the entire cost of your honeymoon.

Is Honeyfund easy for my guests? What if my guests aren't Internet savvy?

Honeyfund makes it easy for wedding guests to purchase your gift. They simply select a gift from your Honeyfund web page, enter their name and e-mail address, and follow the simple payment instructions. They even receive a purchase confirmation e-mail along with a reminder to make payment if they haven't already.

While we think this process is pretty simple, we realize some people just aren't Internet savvy. We suggest these folks contribute money directly to you, or find someone else to make a Honeyfund purchase on their behalf. When you sign up, you’ll designate a contact person (like a bridesmaid, groomsman or family member) who can answer guests' questions about how to contribute and offer assistance if needed.

Finally, it's never a bad idea to have a small traditional registry for those guests who prefer to shop in store.

How is all this free?

Honeyfund was started with a vision: A free online honeymoon registry with no strings. So how do we do it? Like many Internet businesses, we keep the lights on with advertising revenue. Many of our partners offer services you need for your wedding—like flowers, cakes, catering, music, even travel. This way, you get a free honeymoon registry and a little help planning your wedding too!

In addition, Honeyfund Premium accounts are now available, including beautiful page design templates, registry item images, a slideshow of your photos, and no ads on your registry page. Revenue from Honeyfund Premium helps keep Honeyfund’s free service running. And, because our vision is to help couples take the honeymoon of their dreams without being gouged by high fees, we’ve kept the price ridiculously cheap at just $29.
